Director of Documentation
Reporting to the General Manager of Documentation, the Director of Documentation is a strategic customer-facing leadership role. In addition to managing key relationships, this leader is responsible for overall program management, leading a team of Documentation Managers to deliver a portfolio of documentation projects that meet the business goals and strategic objectives of the client and of Innovatia. The Director of Documentation leads the delivery teams (on-time, on-budget and on-quality) and plays a strategic role in customer senior management, including issue resolution and change management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and evolve key customer relationships to understand and anticipate their needs, managing communications and expectations
- End to end program delivery management
- Manage stakeholder communication including knowing the right metrics to track, presenting operational/program status to client and Innovatia management
- Budgeting and financial forecasting and management; including resource management
- Provide leadership and guidance to Documentation Managers (people management)
Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience:
- External customer management experience at a senior level
- Minimum 10 years in delivery management (Project Manager, Program Manager, General Manager, Operations Manager as examples)
- Minimum 5 years progressive technical documentation experience – senior technical writer background preferred
- Strong budget and financial forecasting skills
- Strategically oriented with high degree of business acumen
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous
- Experience in preparing and presenting operational and program status reports to Steering Committees and client senior management
- Solid leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Develops strong team leaders, as well as metrics to assess team effectiveness, efficiencies, and improvement over time
- Ensures team goals/ objectives are achieved – including on-time, on-budget, on quality completion of complex projects – through rigorous performance management
- Possesses the appreciation and knowledge to seek and share appropriate information with clients and co-workers, and responds to concerns with timely, meaningful, fact-based and constructive feedback utilizing a consultative approach
